I just hit a significant milestone!
Five years ago, I stepped into the mortgage and insurance industry, not fully understanding just how much of a journey I had embarked on toward personal growth. And Iām not just talking about learning about home loans and insurance policies.
The biggest lessons have been about people.
How to really listen.
How to have tough conversations without losing trust.
How to explain complex things simply.
How to back yourself when a deal gets tricky.
I have also been fortunate enough to be trained and mentored by several advisers with over two decadesā worth of combined experience and, of late, I too find myself mentoring new advisers. It feels like coming full circle, giving back and sharing lessons Iāve learned from mistakes made early on so they can navigate their journey with more confidence.
The lessons Iāve learned mentoring others donāt just help new advisers either, they make me a better adviser for my clients too. Being able to guide, explain clearly, and anticipate challenges allows me to help clients make informed decisions with confidence and ease.
Whilst I sit in reflection of my journey I know that Iāve made mistakes. Iāve learned from them. And I get to help others avoid the ones that can be avoided because, sometimes, a little guidance early on can make a world of difference.
