Recognised among South Africa’s best.

We’re incredibly proud to see Team Velocity Trade athlete Kira Bester nominated for Sportswoman of the Year at the 2026 South African Sport Awards.

Kira joins an exceptional shortlist alongside Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt and middle-distance star Prudence Sekgodiso — three athletes from very different sporting worlds, recognised among the country’s best.

The winner will be announced this Sunday, 23 August, at the South African Sport Awards at Sun City Superbowl.

Whatever the result, this nomination is a significant recognition of what Kira has consistently achieved on the water and on the international stage. We’re especially proud to see her recognition bringing greater attention to both paddling and lifesaving, two sports that deserve a place in conversations about South Africa’s elite athletes.

Hanging proudly in the Velocity Trade office is a signed New Stars Khayelitsha Football Club jersey, carrying the signatures of the late, great Chairman Tshepo Mollisa alongside current captains and leaders of both the men’s and women’s teams.

It’s more than a football shirt. It’s a reminder of the people, passion and purpose behind the partnership.

☀️Athlete Mentorship Programme 2026

We’re excited to announce that mentor pairings have now been completed for the 2026 Velocity Trade Athlete Mentorship Programme.

Over the next six months, 10 athletes from across South Africa will work alongside experienced mentors as they prepare for the season ahead and continue their development within lifesaving sport.
