This is one of those comeback stories that quietly hits you in the best way.

After a serious spine injury in 2025, Kendra du Toit’s future in sport was uncertain. Competing at the elite level in lifesaving wasn’t guaranteed anymore… and at times, even returning at all felt like a question mark.

Fast forward to the 2026 South African Lifesaving Championships, and she’s not just back in the pool… she’s dominating it.

Kendra won four individual titles and walked away as the Overall Top Female Point Scorer, representing her team with a level of composure that only comes after you’ve had to rebuild yourself from the ground up.

What makes it even more powerful is what happened in between.

The injury didn’t just challenge her physically… it forced a complete mental reset. Learning to work with doubt instead of fighting it. Reframing pressure as something earned, not feared. And slowly rebuilding trust in her body again.
By the time she stepped onto the national stage, it wasn’t just about medals anymore. It was about returning on her own terms.
