Don’t be fooled by cheap insurance

On Newstalk ZB with Jack Tame, economist Ed McKnight talked about a big misconception in NZ — what a financial advisor does and that using a broker makes insurance more expensive.

Often, the opposite is true.
Cheap insurance can look good upfront, but we regularly see: ❌ Key benefits missing

As many of us wind down and prepare for a break, a couple of tips from us to prevent the Christmas Grinch from appearing

Your Home

Make friends with your neighbours and let them know you are going away. While you are at ask them whether they could clear your mail or get a friend or relative to pop by.
Leave a light on and open a few curtains.

If you plan on renting your home or listing with AirBNB now would be a good time to tell us.

If you are lucky enough to be on an extended break, it’s best to let us know if the home is unoccupied. Insurers all have differing clauses in their policies in regard to unoccupied homes. When in doubt ask us.

Finally careful in posting those holiday snaps burglars are pretty good on social media too!

If anything does go amiss during the break, please make your home safe.

You can do this by turning off the water
Glaziers are usually available, but if you can cover with ply do so.
A local agent such as Chem Dry or Jae’s are on call to mop up the mess.

Your vehicle

In the event of a motor accident, make sure you get the other drivers details including registration and a photo of their driver’s licence is a good idea when in dispute. If the vehicle needs towing keep receipts and we will be there to assist when we are back on deck.
