Life has a way of changing when we least expect it.

One day you're buying your first home. Next, you're welcoming a new baby, growing your business, changing careers or planning for retirement.

With every major milestone comes new responsibilities, and what was right for you a few years ago might not be the right fit today.

If your life has changed, it might be time to ask one simple question:

Does your insurance still fit?

If you're unsure, let's have a conversation.

You've worked hard to build the life you have today.

Whether it's your first home, your family, your business or the income that supports it all, those things are worth protecting.

Many people put off looking into insurance because life gets busy or it sits on the to-do list a little longer than planned.

But having the right cover in place isn't about expecting something to go wrong. It's about knowing you've taken steps to protect what matters most if life doesn't go to plan.

If you've been meaning to look into your insurance options, let's start with a conversation.

We’ve all got that one thing we’ve been meaning to get around to.

For a lot of people, life insurance is one of them.

Between work, family, the house and everything else life throws at us, it’s easy for it to keep getting pushed down the list.

If looking into life insurance has been sitting on your to-do list for a while, you’re definitely not alone.

Good advice starts with understanding what’s important to you.

As a business owner, it's important to consider the impact to your business and family if you unexpectedly pass away.

Business life insurance provides your business with a lump sum payment that can be used to:

• Repay debts and cover personal guarantees.
• Support cashflow during the period of disruption.
• Allow the business time to make the changes needed to keep operating.

Common issues we see with business include underinsurance, improper ownership structures, and insurance that isn't coordinated with personal cover.

Reviewing your business life insurance helps ensure your cover remains suitable for your risk exposures and your business obligations.

If you'd like to review your current business life insurance, get in touch.

For many families, life insurance is seen as a tool for the primary earner. But this view can overlook the reality that every parent plays a critical role in the household and daily life, whether they bring home a pay cheque or not.

It’s easy to quantify a salary. But how do you measure the value of caring for children full-time, managing household schedules, preparing meals, or providing emotional support during tough times? Remember that often it’s the person doing this role that enables the other person to work full time and earn a living.

If something happened through illness, accident, or worse, the costs of replacing that care and structure can be substantial.

Life insurance isn’t one-size-fits-all. Having cover that reflects real-life costs can make all the difference when the unexpected occurs.

Life insurance isn’t about preparing for the worst. It’s about protecting the life you’ve built together.

ACC is just for accidents, that’s the “A”.
Remember there is no cover for illness or wear & tear/degeneration. This is a major blind spot that many people overlook.

Other points to remember:-
- Cover is based on your personal taxable income from the previous year. If your income has changed you may receive less compensation than you expect.
- Weekly compensation is liable for income tax.
- Compensation maxes out at $2,466 a week so if you’re a higher income earner ($150k+) it will leave a shortfall in cover.
- If self-employed check you are on the correct occupational classification so you don’t over or under pay levies.
- Long term compensation is not guaranteed.

You can enhance your ACC cover with insurance. I offer solutions for employed and self-employed across all industries.

ACC provides a useful base level of protection for injury from accidents, but should not be relied upon for long term protection due to the limitations in coverage.

Remember, the “A” in ACC is accident, so if you can’t work and it isn’t because of an accident, then ACC is unlikely to offer any cover.

The type of levy paid is based on your occupation, payroll status and income. Taking the time to understand your ACC cover and the options available for combining this with personal insurance can help extend your cover so it better protects your individual situation.

If you are confused by your ACC invoices, coverage, or want to learn how to enhance your cover, get in touch.

Knowing our clients feel informed, supported and confident in their cover is exactly what we aim for.

Here's what Bradley had to say:

“Andy provided exceptional service in setting up our life, health and income protection cover. His advice was clear, tailored to our situation, and focused on protecting what matters most to us. The communication throughout was excellent, and the ongoing support gives us real peace of mind. It’s great to have an adviser you can trust for the long term. Highly recommended!”

If you're looking for personalised insurance advice or would like to review your current cover, we'd love to have a conversation.
