🚨 New Mentor Campaign – 10 Good Blokes 🚨

We’re on a mission to find 10 good blokes to step up and make a real difference. 💪

Our goal: 10 men signed up as mentors by July 2026.
Why? Because right now, over 70% of our waitlist are boys, and they’re waiting for someone like you.

Being a mentor doesn’t mean doing it alone. You can even take this journey as a couple - supporting each other while changing a young person’s life together.

This is where our community comes in 🤝
👉 Tag someone who’d make a great mentor
👉 Nominate a good bloke you know

If we reach this goal, it means 10 more boys gain a positive role model - someone who shows up, listens, and cares.

Let’s make it happen. 💙

Hastings business Tumu is celebrating one year of keeping food scraps out of landfill after setting up an on-site composting system at its staff kitchens.

Tumu introduced the system 12 months ago with support from Hastings District Council’s Waste Minimisation Fund, and in that time diverted about 1.9 tonnes of food scraps from the landfill.

Read more about Tumu’s system, and next week’s 'From Scraps to Soil' event to learn more about composting and managing food scraps https://www.hastingsdc.govt.nz/home/article/3780/staff-embrace-system-to-keep-food-scraps-out-of-landfill?t=featured&s=1

Tumu was out supporting the next generation of Hawke’s Bay entrepreneurs at the Young Enterprise Trust(YES) Spark Tank last week.

Our team joined more than 450 students from 19 schools at Toitoi – Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre, mentoring groups as they tested and refined their business ideas.

Welcome Ltd CEO Anton Douglas opened the event by sharing his experience launching Welcome and practical insights on building a business.

As the main sponsor of YES Hawke’s Bay, Tumu values supporting young people with big ideas and helping them build confidence in business.

Thanks to everyone who gave their time to support the future of business in our region.

1 picturesque day. 18 challenging holes. 30 competitive teams. Nearly $80,000 raised for two causes close to Tumu’s heart.

Last Friday, our inaugural Tumu X bbi Golf Tournament teed off at the stunning Hastings Golf Course, bringing together teams from across the region (and beyond) to support two incredible charities - Building Futures and Mates4Life.

Played in Ambrose format, teams of four took on the course in great spirit - competitive, generous, and ready to back two organisations doing vital mahi in our communities.

Building Futures supports rangatahi by helping them gain confidence, skills, and pathways into meaningful employment and brighter futures, while Mates 4 Life is dedicated to creating supportive workplace cultures and equipping people with the tools to look out for one another and have courageous conversations about mental health.

Out on the course, teams enjoyed a range of fun hole activations, including a standout TimberSpan challenge, where players attempted to putt through a miniature Eiffel Tower made from LVL!

Back at the clubhouse, we heard from a Building Futures graduate whose story resonated with everyone. Now three years into her role at bbi Wood Products, she spoke about her journey and the positive impact the programme has had on her life.

We also heard from Dan of Isaac's Plumbing, Pumping & Electrical, who shared how Mates 4 Life has strengthened their workplace culture. He spoke to the value of open conversations and strong support networks across their team.

The generosity continued with an exciting live auction featuring two stunning baches, a high-country hunting experience in Ngamatea, and a next-level BBQ from Mitre 10 MEGA Napier & Hastings

Congratulations to PGC Constructors Limited, who claimed the top spot on the day and won a round at the spectacular Cape Kidnappers Golf Course.

A fun, competitive and incredibly worthwhile day - and most importantly, nearly $80,000 raised to support two organisations making a real difference in our communities.

Peakviews Lifestyle Living Clubhouse Officially Opened!

What was bare land less than two years ago is now a growing retirement lifestyle village on Howard Street, with 18 of 35 architecturally designed villas complete and a vibrant community already taking shape.

The new purpose-built Clubhouse sits at the heart of the Peakviews village and has been designed to support independence, wellbeing and connection. The facility includes a gym, library, lounges, games area, kitchen and dining space, and an outdoor courtyard with BBQ area - creating a welcoming social hub for residents.

We celebrated the opening alongside Hastings Mayor Wendy Schollum, Hastings District Councillors, and our valued project partners - Design Group Stapleton Elliot, Harkness Builders, Maho Interiors and the wider Tumu team.

This milestone reflects the collaborative effort of everyone involved and the enthusiasm of the Peakviews residents, who have watched the development progress from the ground up.

Further villa construction and landscaping will continue throughout 2025 as Peakviews grows into a thriving community.
