April Recap 🌟

Over the month of April, our Frank team clocked up 7,901,346 steps and contributed $419.23 towards an incredible cause.

Collectively, this year’s Get Active Challenge participants reached 47,777,358 steps and raised a huge $2,594.86 for Kids in Need Waikato 🩵🧡

With Kids in Need Waikato now running their Winter Warmer Appeal, this support comes at an especially important time, helping them provide warm clothing and essential winter items for children and young people in foster, kinship, and grandparent care. Visit their page to find out how you can support them, too.

A fantastic result for the first month of the challenge, and a great start to 7 months of moving with purpose.

For the month of May, the Get Active challenge is supporting True Colours Children's Health Trust. True Colours supports children who have serious health conditions as well as their families, providing specialised support and wraparound care at no cost to them.
A great way for us to keep our bodies moving as the temperatures start to drop, and support such a worthy cause at the same time.

This May, Direct Advisory is moving for True Colours Children's Health Trust as part of the Get Active Challenge 2026.

As office workers, it's easy to spend the day glued to a screen, but getting moving is so important for both mental and physical health. This challenge is the perfect nudge to get up, get out, and feel better for it.

True Colours supports children with serious health conditions and their whanau across the Waikato, providing wraparound care: counselling, nursing support, and bereavement services that holds families together during their hardest moments.

Every move counts, and every step supports a cause close to our hearts.

Huge congratulations to Sylvia Gadsden on graduating with a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology from the University of Auckland.

What an incredible accomplishment. Balancing study alongside work, home life, and a young family takes real determination, discipline, and strength - and to achieve such outstanding results along the way is truly inspiring.

We are all so proud of you, Sylv. This is a milestone to celebrate and one you should be immensely proud of! 🎓✨

Get Active Challenge - April charity spotlight: Kids in Need Waikato 🩵🧡

Kids in Need Waikato supports children and young people in foster, kinship, and grandparent care through personalised care packs filled with clothing, toys, and essential items.

This is a charity close to our hearts, as Kids in Need Waikato was also our chosen charity for our annual Table Tennis tournament in 2023.

Kids in Need has recently launched their Winter Warmer Appeal, with a goal of raising $30,000 to help provide essential winter items for their care packs and ensure every child referred to them has the warm clothes they deserve.

If you’d like to support the appeal, visit their website to learn more about the different ways you can help. We’re proud to shine a light on the incredible work they do in our community. https://www.kidsinneed.co.nz/

A huge congratulations to Carol Findlay on an incredible result at the Cycling New Zealand Age Group Road Nationals in Upper Moutere a few weeks ago.

Carol took out gold in the Time Trial (Road Bike) on Friday and followed it up with gold in the Road Race on Saturday. An outstanding achievement and a real testament to the hard work, determination and commitment she brings to everything she does.

Even more exciting, her gold medal performance has qualified her for the 2026 World Age Group Championships in Niseko, Japan in a few months.

What a fantastic achievement, Carol. We’re proud to celebrate this success with you and can’t wait to see what’s next. 🚴‍♀️🥇

Celebrating Stuart Hamilton, who has just reached an incredible milestone - 10 years with Frank - a tenure well worth recognising and celebrating. Congratulations, Stu, on a decade with the business.

Over the past 10 years, he has been a hugely valued member of the team, bringing deep insurance expertise, sound judgement, and practical wisdom that have helped both clients and colleagues time and time again. He also seems to have an answer, or at least a useful insight, on almost any topic, thanks to his impressive general knowledge.

Stu’s love of motorbikes, sharp humour, and quick wit have made him an important part of the culture at Frank. We marked the milestone with Reggie's Pizza and a team outing to the Lido Theatre to watch the cult classic film The Castle.

Please keep up to date with NIWA, MetService and local authority advice, avoid unnecessary travel, and take care if you need to be out.

If you need to speak with our team urgently, please contact your broker on their mobile.

Stay safe and take care.

And we have liftoff! The Get Active challenge for 2026 is now on, and this year we're aiming high.

Over the next six months, alongside other Waikato businesses, we'll be tracking our steps as we work towards our target of 477 million. Just like Artemis II, we're on our way to the moon 🚀🌕

A big thank you to everyone who joined us at the launch at MADE last week, to AIA NZ for sponsoring the event, and to Aaron Gilmore for bringing the energy to a 7am start.

Let's do this! 🏃🏻‍➡️

The Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) levy is changing again from 1 July 2026.

For asset-heavy businesses and fleets, this won't be small change - it's a cost you should be factoring into budgets now. If levies and premiums blur together in your head (or your spreadsheet), it's easy to underestimate what's coming.

A few practical checks that are worth doing now:
✅ Check your invoices: How much is insurance premium vs levies?
✅ Review values: Are building, plant and vehicle values still realistic in today's market?
✅ Look ahead: Are there large projects, acquisitions or disposals coming that could shift your levy exposure?
✅ Bring your broker into the budget conversation: We can help model future levy scenarios so there are no surprises when the new structure kicks in.

You don’t have to wait until renewal to get a clearer picture. If you’d like to understand how levy changes might affect your business or farm after 1 July, we’re happy to walk through the numbers with you.

From 1 July 2026, NZ’s Fire & Emergency Levy rules change, not just the rate. See what it means for you.
