There’s nothing quite like a community coming together!

A big shout-out to Christchurch Methodist Missions very own Karen from our Central Support team, who put the call out to her neighbours for clean, warm bedding for our Blanket Bank.

Well…the wonderful residents of Prestons and Prestons Park certainly answered the call.

Some acts of kindness don’t need a name!

Thank you to our anonymous donor who had arranged a beautiful collection of brand-new blankets and winter goodies to be delivered to Christchurch Methodist Mission for our Blanket Bank.

Every blanket we receive becomes warmth, comfort and a little bit of dignity for someone in our community who needs it especially through these cold winter months.

This is what community looks like. People quietly stepping up, giving what they can, and making sure others don’t have to face winter without warmth.

From all of us at the Blanket Bank, thank you. (This has brought a big smile to Elizabeth too 😊).

Local musical virtuoso Tom Rainey ONZM and his talented friends Jennine Bailey (vocals), Gwyn Reynolds (saxophone), and Richie Pickard (bass) will present another Winter Charity Concert this July in support of CMM.

Sometimes giving back to the community looks a little different.

A huge thank you to Ty (left) and our friends at The Shoe Room in Ferrymead, who have kindly offered to collect clean, warm bedding donations on behalf of the Blanket Bank this winter.

A huge thank you to two incredibly generous supporters of the Blanket Bank.

Firstly, thank you to Dorothy from LACCT (Linwood Avenue Community Corner Trust), who used community-raised funds to purchase 50 hot water bottles for those in need this winter.

This is their annual appeal that brings warmth and comfort to so many people and whānau.

We would also like to sincerely thank Quest on Kilmore for their generous support of the Blanket Bank. Community kindness like this makes such a real difference and reminds us how lucky we are to have people and businesses willing to help others.

That’s exactly what the Linwood and Woolston Rotary Clubs did. Bev was tasked with dropping off the donations to us today! These will be distributed to our community in need of warm bedding before winter settles in.
