Little Ship Club of Canterbury

Little Ship Club of Canterbury We are a group of cruisers & sailors who gather on a regular basis with key note speakers and events related to all things nautical.

Membership benefits:
• Members only outings, some of which will give members access to otherwise closed venues.
• Access and the right to borrow books from our extensive nautical library.
• The opportunity to purchase club caps ($15) and club burgees ($40).
• The opportunity to make new friends with others who share our interests.
• Access to the vast repository of technical and maritime knowle

dge held by our members.
• Visits to member's crafts and opportunities to sail in them and see how they are organised.
• Regular informative news letters
• Social interaction with like minded fellow enthusiasts

Annual membership fees of $20 may be paid to the Treasurer at any meeting, or by bank transfer to account 030802 0094950 00. If paying by bank transfer, please add your name and phone number to the transaction details. Then please email the treasurer your details and we will email you a receipt. Meetings are mostly held at 7.30 on the 3rd Thursday of each month and usually take place in the ward room at Naval Point Club, with committee meetings at 6 pm beforehand.

Roger Lusby presents: 40 Years Below – A Year in Antarctica

Fifty-five years ago, Roger Lusby wintered over as a base mechanic at Scott Base. Now, he brings that unforgettable experience to life through a personal audio-visual show filled with photos, stories, songs, poems, and plenty of humour.

Over three years in the making, this is a unique chance to hear what it was really like living and working in Antarctica.

We’ll also hear from Mike Bruce, sharing a brief history of the Tug Lyttelton and plans to get her back out on the water.

This introductory sailing class is for people who may have sailed before, but are interested in learning a bit more. It will cover basic boat safety, raising and lowering sails, tacking/gybing. The Fox 2 is an authentic traditional sailing vessel and has been used for sailing instruction for over 30 years. This class is ideal for single sailors, friends, or families wanting to get out on the water. There will be a social get together afterwards at the Te Ana Marina with a complementary drink.
