If the IRD thinks you have your PIR Rate incorrectly noted on your Whai Rawa investment, you may receive communication from them about this.

Your PIR rate may be automatically updated by IRD. You can check your PIR rate for your Whai Rawa investment in MyIR. If you think the rate is wrong, you can contact IRD to discuss or review it.

What is Prescribed Investor Rate Tax (PIR)?
Whai Rawa is a Portfolio Investment Entity (PIE) and earnings are taxed within the rules relating to PIEs. The amount of tax individuals pay is based on your Prescribed Investor Rate (PIR). New Zealand tax residents can check their PIR here and contact us to update rates.
Non-New Zealand residents automatically default to a PIR of 28%.
