OPINION: Whether you know redundancy is looming, or you’re concerned it could be a possibility, it’s worth having a bit of a game plan ahead of time.

These short videos were taken a while ago, of my Ruby and her best friend Keira, over the years...

Keira was Ruby's first friend when she started school, when we lived in Queenstown. Then, when we moved back to Christchurch the girls kept up their friendship and saw each other at every chance they got!

Keira now lives in England, so Ruby misses her terribly but hopes that she will get the chance to see her bestie next year!

Have a chat with us today if you'd like to look at protecting the things that are most precious in your life. We look forward to finding out how we can help!

Today is COFFEE Day ☕️

Coffee in the morning; coffee and a catch up with old friends; going for coffee with your new hot date – we at Priority love to drink coffee morning, day and night!

You have only to walk down the nearest high street and note the number of coffee shops to realise that our love affair with our favourite caffeinated beverage has grown considerably in recent years.

Whether you favour espresso, long blacks, flat whites or cappuccinos; iced, decaf, instant or filter – Coffee Day is the day to savour and appreciate your beverage, and maybe even drop into the Priority office where we’ll make you one with our specialised coffee machine.

Coffee Day also marks the long history of the drink: the properties of coffee beans are thought to have first been discovered in Ethiopia. The beans are actually the pits found in the coffee berry or cherry. The story goes that a 9th century goat herder noticed their stimulating effects on his goats and began experimenting.

Coffee drinking was originally popularised in the Arab world (this explains why our adviser, Ramzi loves the drink so much, it’s literally ‘in his blood’) from around the 15th century spreading across Asia then to Italy and across Europe and to the Americas – and finally to your coffee cup.

Today, coffee is one of the world’s biggest crops so buying ethically grown coffee is all the more important – be sure to be selective in buying your cup of coffee and supporting ethical trade.

So when you drink your cup of coffee today, be sure to inhale its aroma, taste its dark and full-bodied flavour, think about its story – but most of all enjoy! And don’t forget to TAG your coffee loving friends below ⬇️

Today is HEART Day ❤️

Heart Day is part of an international campaign to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. This is the perfect day to start incorporating things into your life that keep your ticker in good working order, and improving the health and well being of people the world over.

The World Heart Federation have found that heart disease and strokes are the world’s leading cause of death, killing 17.1 million people every year – that’s more than victims of cancer, HIV and AIDS and malaria.

Overeating, lack of exercise, unhealthy diets and high blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels are all factors which can trigger heart disease and threaten our own lives, and those of loved ones. Heart Day was set up to drive home the message that heart problems can be prevented.

The aim is to improve health globally by encouraging people to make lifestyle changes and promoting education internationally about ways to be good to your heart. This lesson is becoming increasingly relevant as reports of obesity, poor diet and physical inactivity in children and young people become more and more common.

Events take place to promote healthy hearts. Charities and other organisations coordinate walks and runs, health checks, public talks, shows and exhibitions to name a few of the interesting and informative events which mark the day. So on Heart Day, get involved, eat your fruit and veg and get outside; both you and your heart will feel the benefits.

Today is WORLD DREAM Day

It is time to sit back and relax and enjoy Dream Day!

But do not use it as an excuse to slip back into bed – Dream Day was set up by an instructor at Columbia University in 2012 as a way of helping us all achieve our dreams and to make the world a better place.

You can organise a special dream event, where a group of you get together and talk about your dreams, or you can stay at home and dream of what you most want from life. We are talking more about ‘achieve my full potential’ and ‘end world hunger’ here, not ‘lose a kg’ or ‘get revenge on my boss’!

Come up with an inspiring dream, then work out an action plan to make it happen, and to help everyone else achieve their dreams too.

It is so simple, and there lies its beauty: All you have to do is… dream!

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech, Kid President...
