As house sales decrease it seems people are spending a bit more money on their current homes.

One increase in spending im seeing is clients having pools installed.

Should I get a building inspection on the property I want to purchase? ABSOLUTELY

If you are going to invest so much money you want to ensure that your asset is in good condition. Ive spent plenty of time around houses and open homes...... I still would not be able to see some of the hidden issues.

A week after I moved into my first home and draining our bank accounts our hot water cylinder died a tragic death taking out the particle board floor with it.

Did I have a building inspector? Sadly no.

I had a mate who is a builder do a walk around the property however there was no climbing on the roof or looking under the house. Not their fault but mine.

PS this was clearly not since I have been in this industry.

And there you have it, .75% increase to the Official Cash Rate and an apparent 14 year high.

The official cash rate does not dictate interest rates however influences where they go.

Time to think seriously about the structure of your mortgage, maybe more than ever.

The move has taken the official cash rate to its highest level since 2008.
