Tax law never stands still. Neither do the professionals navigating it.

We're proud to be sponsoring the New Zealand Law Society Tax Conference this year - because staying close to the profession matters to us.

On Wednesday 9 September in Auckland, lawyers, accountants and in-house tax managers will come together to unpack the latest developments shaping tax in New Zealand. It's exactly the kind of conversation TMNZ exists to support - helping tax professionals manage compliance with more clarity, control and less friction.

There's still time to register πŸ‘‡ https://ap1.hubs.ly/H01jLgt0

How one of NZ's biggest accounting, tax and financial advisory firms helps clients manage provisional tax.

Findex New Zealand has partnered with TMNZ for over a decade to give clients more flexibility around provisional tax deadlines. Jarod Chisholm, Managing Partner at Findex, has seen it all when it comes to clients managing provisional tax. Some can't afford to pay on time. Others would rather put that cash to work growing the business.

"Some clients face cashflow issues where they can't afford to pay on the due date, like 28 August."

Either way, with the 28 August deadline coming up, that's where TMNZ comes in.

What does the accounting profession actually think about provisional tax?

Not anecdotally. Not in submissions. On the record, with data behind it.

TMNZ has partnered with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and The Curiosity Company to find out. We're surveying New Zealand accounting firms on how provisional tax is really managed - the workflows, the pressure points, the gaps the system doesn't acknowledge.

The findings will be published in September. The profession gets a credible, evidence-based voice on policy. You get to help shape it.

12–15 minutes. Confidential. Closes 9 August 2026.

Five $200 Prezzy Cards up for grabs too - you'll be entered automatically.

Since becoming CA ANZ's exclusive tax pooling partner, our focus has been simple: making tax easier for members.

With webinars, tools, events, and professional development - and last week, we sat down with Alex Peasland and Kate Fallow from CA ANZ to take stock and plan what comes next.

Think: more resources. New tech. Community impact. Deeper support for accountants across the motu.

The partnership is just getting started.

Businesses with tax debt have a real way out. But the window closes 30 September.

New Zealand's tax debt problem has reached a scale that can no longer be ignored. $9 billion. Inland Revenue NZ is done with the softly softly approach. Liquidations and enforcement are up sharply.

For clients with 2023 or 2024 income tax arrears, the Inland Revenue pilot programme to settle through TMNZ is still open. Late payment penalties gone. Interest costs cut by over 30%. And Inland Revenue pauses recovery while it's resolved.

Yesterday, our team had the privilege of hearing firsthand from someone who did something genuinely remarkable.

Jono Ridler joined us to share his experience of completing the Live Ocean Swim 4 The Ocean mission - and it was one of those talks that stays with you. Over 3 months, Jono swam the entire east coast of the North Island, igniting New Zealanders in the race for a healthy ocean.

Jono was honest about what a mission like that takes. Swimming with sharks. Salt tongue. The kind of cold that seeps into your bones. These challenges were real and took a lot to overcome. But what carried him through wasn't just willpower. It's purpose. A deep commitment to contributing to something bigger than himself: protecting our oceans for the generations who come after us.

Rosalie Nelson, CEO of Live Ocean Foundation, also spoke to us about why that purpose matters so much right now. New Zealand has the fourth largest ocean territory in the world - and it urgently needs more protection. Starting with an end to New Zealand's outdated bottom trawling practices and protecting our precious seamounts. That's a responsibility that belongs to all of us.

As a long-term supporter of Live Ocean and proud Platinum Sponsor of , TMNZ is honoured to stand behind this mission, along with Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation.
