Mad Mike didn't take the easy road and he'll tell you exactly why.

Star Insure sat down with drift legend Michael Whiddett at our annual staff conference, and part 1 of that conversation gets real fast.

Mike opens up about the struggles he faced growing up and the determination that turned those early setbacks into fuel that fired an unstopple vision.

It's the kind of story that reminds you why grit matters more than a clean run. No shortcuts, no safety net, just a clear idea of where he wanted to go and the refusal to stop until he got there.

This year’s national staff conference was dialled up to eleven! 🏎️💨

Being Star Insure, we don’t like doing anything vanilla and decided to exchange death by PowerPoint for an adrenaline-fuelled day at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park.

From tearing up the tarmac in the all-new BMW M5 Touring wagon to tackling high-speed slalom challenges in the MINI JCW Countryman, the team had an amazing time.

A massive highlight was having our one of the star family and our brand partner, Mad Mike, join our morning session. Hearing the raw, authentic journey of how he built a global powerhouse through sheer talent and drive was incredibly inspiring.

An event of this calibre wouldn’t have been possible without the phenomenal support of our special partners. A huge thank you to: BMW New Zealand MINI New Zealand NZ Viclas NZ TRACKTIME DRIVING ACADEMY traillitenz Lux Productions RIOT Design Ltd Journey Pictures

To everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to pull this unforgettable day together, we appreciate you more than you know. 👏

The countdown to the next one is officially on! 🏁🔥

Classic cars and sunshine, it doesn’t get any better than this! ☀️😎

Last Saturday our team headed along to Howick Hop to soak it all in and show some love for the local community. Row after row of absolutely stunning vehicles, each one clearly cherished by someone who genuinely cares about their car.

We even bumped into a few Star Insure customers out there. It’s always great to put faces to names and have a real conversation with people who love classic cars just as much as we do.

Big shoutout to our crew who represented on the day.

Classic cars, local goods and Star Insure  all in one place at the Howick Village Hop tomorrow!

Join us at Picton Street to get up close with a lineup of polished classic and vintage vehicles. Browse the local market stalls and grab something to eat while you’re there too.

We’re excited to be part of the Howick community celebrations and would love to see you there.

Most people assume getting a car insurance quote means a long wait and a phone tag nightmare.

Mark didn’t experience that at all with Star Insure. He filled in a simple online form and had his quote back in under 24 hours. No chasing, no hold music.

When he did call, he had a local NZ based team member who helped him every step of the way. That’s what car insurance should feel like.

Chrome Showcase, you delivered! 🏁 What an absolute belter of a weekend at the ASB Showgrounds.

We brought the Star Insure stand, parked up one of Fanga Dan’s weapon drift cars, and spent two solid days talking with people who know that a car is never just transport. 🚗💨

That passion? That’s exactly why we do what we do.
Massive shoutout to the Chrome crew for putting together an event that truly champions New Zealand car culture. Until next time! 🤘
