Last week I had an interesting conversation in one of the online communities I belong to, it was centred around getting the right insurance for your kids.

To put it simple, in my opinion, every person should have insurance. It is there to provide financial support during a tough time in life.

It may be hard to imagine that your child could ever get injured or endure a battle with a horrible illness. But truth is, we can all get sick.

During the discussion a few people shared their own personal insurance journey; some were insured by their parents when they were a baby and enjoyed the benefits of being able to claim on almost everything they needed throughout their life so far.

Other people were not so lucky and have had to pay for treatment out of their own pocket, and now that they have had a severe injury of illness their chances of getting an affordable insurance solution has gotten significantly harder.

In both scenarios they chose to have their own children covered weeks after they were born. And this is really the ideal way to do it. This way the child gets covered almost from birth, and will have the best possible terms & conditions applied to his/her policy.

Did you know: some insurance providers have a free benefit included within your own Trauma cover, that provides a payment for if your child gets diagnosed with a severe illness? (T&C's apply) When the child turns 18 they can transfer this to their own adult policy without underwriting!

If you are not sure if your child is covered, let's have a chat and I can help you to find out.

Do you ever reflect on why you took out your insurance policies?

As your life changes, your insurance policy needs to reflect those changes. If it doesn't you might get into a situation when your insurance policy will no longer be suitable and you wont be able to claim on it.

If you already have insurance, but it has been a while since you last reviewed it please feel free to contact me for a no-obligation and free review.

Together we can make little tweaks to make sure your cover remains suitable for your family, long term.

Have you ever thought to yourself: ''I don't want to have a big lump sum paid out to my family when I pass away?''

There is nothing wrong with that thought, some families simply don't need a big lumpsum! And the good news is, you don't have to!

Some insurance companies will offer a type of Life Income cover (also known as Family Protection sometimes) This cover will pay out a small monthly sum to your family, for a certain amount of years. For example $3000 per month for 5 years from the moment you pass away.

This can be really helpful when you have a family with young children and you are the main income earner, if you pass away your spouse will need time to grief, look after the kids, and potentially study before they can find a job to replace your income.

This type of Life insurance offers peace of mind that your family will have the funds to look after themselves when you are gone. And without the added stress of figuring out what to do with a big lumpsum they don't need in that moment.

If this sounds like something that could benefit your family feel free to reach out to me today for a non-obligation chat.

When you opened up your bank account, did the bank set you up with insurance as well?

- Do you understand your insurance with your bank?
- Are you satisfied that it will be enough?
- Do you have a specific person that you can contact with questions and for help during claim time?

If the answer is NO to any of these questions, but you want to turn it into a YES, then please come talk to me.

When you work with me:
- I show you the difference between your bank's insurance policy, and the insurance companies I work with
- I help you understand how it all works
- I am here for my clients when they need me most.

In short, the bank insurance policies are limited/basic versions of other insurance products out on the market. And the bank employee who set it up for you only works with that bank's products, they did not compare it across the market to see if their insurance was actually the best for you! Each bank and insurance company works slightly differently, and sometimes the bank will be perfect for you, but in 99% of client's I have worked with, they were better off moving to a different insurance company.

It's time to give you all the facts so you can make a choice, and feel in control!

Contact me today for a free and no-obligation chat :)

''Put your own mask on first, before you help someone else''

A few years ago I over did things, I nearly burned out and I actually had a make a career change to stop my health from getting worse.

While I love what I do now, I don't like that it took a health scare before I realised what I wanted to do with my life! Having to take time out to recover, took away time from living my life and I will forever regret that.

So I want to encourage all of you to make sure you are looking after yourself, take 10 minutes a day to just sit and breathe, or make plans to go out and have a girls night out once a month. Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy it!
