She was offered $40,000 for her 50% share. The business was actually worth $400,000.
A lady in her early 50s came to see me during her divorce.
She and her husband owned a business together for over 20 years. It was profitable and well-established. Her husband offered her $40,000 as her share.
She didn’t feel it was right — but she had no way to prove it.
We carried out a formal business valuation.
The result?
The business was worth $400,000.
Her rightful share was $200,000.
He was trying to settle with her for one-fifth of what she was entitled to.

This is why Business Valuation matters.

Most owners think valuation is only relevant when selling a business.
In reality, it is critical when:

A partner exits or joins
Shares are transferred within family
There is a dispute
You are raising finance
You are planning succession

You simply want to understand what drives the value of your business
Valuation is not a guess or a rule of thumb.
It is an evidence-based assessment of what a business is truly worth based on its ability to generate future returns.
And often, the biggest benefit is not the number — but the insight into:

Risks
Weaknesses
Value drivers
Areas to improve before a sale is even considered

You cannot improve what you cannot measure.
Knowing the value of your business is not about selling.
It’s about protecting yourself, making informed decisions, and building a more valuable business.
