Naked Finance had a blast at our recent ‘company retreat’ in Rotorua. Two days full of relaxing baths, fun activities and great company, with some business training squeezed in.

We kicked off the excursion with a little business challenge to get the team thinking strategically and practice a little problem solving.

The task:
Design a high-level business plan for an imaginary business. Include a SWOT analysis, an estimation of what their industry might look like in 10 years and how they were going to adapt to it, and how they were going to fulfil their B-Corp requirements.

Our group was split into 4 teams and who better to be our fearless team leaders than our Associate Advisers.

We had some very creative company names including “Clothed” Finance (although we prefer being Naked) and Only Finance – a company that specialised in financial support for digital content creators. We just loved seeing the creativity.

Mark led Clothed Finance across the finish line in first place with his passion for presenting and leadership. When asked the company’s weaknesses as part of the SWOT analysis, he simply replied, ‘Weaknesses, we do not believe in weaknesses.’ ~ Rapturous applause ensued.

We are so grateful to have such an amazing team here at Naked Finance. And even though we stay clothed, we still love being Naked. To all our team, thanks for making it such a blast.

The First Ever Quotemonster Debate: A Naked Finance Recap

We showed up for the first ever Quality Product Research (Quotemonster) Debate on KiwiSaver access. The big question: Is using KiwiSaver for a first home deposit a ‘band-aid’ crippling our economic future, or an ‘aid’ levelling the playing field for intergenerational wealth?

Jamie Reynolds and Elle Wuthrich - Financial Adviser captained opposing sides. Jamie's team prevailed after a well-fought rebuttal from Elle. Did Elle hate losing? Completely. But did the debate force consideration for both sides? Absolutely.

Our view? Unchanged. For some clients, KiwiSaver is the only way onto the property ladder. The key to such financial decision is getting the right advice before and after withdrawal.

Jamie and Sean went to the Amova Asset Management conference to find out one thing:
More choice + more diversity = better KiwiSaver? Their takeaway? GoalsGetter.

It's a multi-asset manager platform that lets Kiwis choose funds from multiple leading managers, not just one. Backed by one of Asia's largest fund managers, with a local Auckland team.

More choice. More control. That's worth watching. Great to see Amova bringing this to life. We're keen to see where GoalsGetter goes from here.

A proud moment from earlier this month 🏆

Naked Finance attended the My Solutions awards night and we didn't come away naked. Jamie took home Business Excellence from Pathfinder - a nod to our ethical space work and B Corp journey. This one means a lot, because it speaks to the values we're building into our business.

And as a firm, we received Top Achiever - recognition of how we look after clients, our consistency, and the culture we're building.

None of this happens without a team who cares, clients who trust us, and purpose guiding the way. Thanks to all for being a part of our journey.

Onwards and upwards 🙌

Two of our directors, Sean and Jamie, had the privilege of attending the Dimensional business leader’s symposium in Sydney last week. The core theme: powering your advice business into the future.

To say the lads were inspired by what they learnt, is an understatement. Dimensional did a fantastic job of demonstrating how guiding principles shape firm culture and decision-making. We can't wait to start implementing some of these strategies and see how our business and our staff can flourish.

Oh, and they also managed to squeeze in some sightseeing ;)
