We are delighted to advise that Wealthpoint's Head of Legal, Compliance, and Conduct, Jack Lynskey was awarded the Sole In-house Lawyer of the Year Award at the ILANZ: In-house Lawyers Association of New Zealand National conference in Tauranga late last week. ILANZ is a section of the NZ Law Society, focusing on the lawyers who are providing professional legal services to their employers.

Jack joined the Wealthpoint Cooperative in its infancy and has played a pivotal role in developing the entire contractual and compliance framework of Wealthpoint Ltd, including our FAP and DIMS licenses.

It is fantastic to see Jack's hard work and dedication to Wealthpoint and our members be recognised. Congratulations Jack.

Most of our Wealthpoint NZ directors are also small business owners and financial advisers, and they are all an integral part of their local communities.

One of those directors is Melissa Still, a Financial Adviser and Director of Mainland Insurance, Mortgages & Investment based in South Canterbury. In a recent Asset Magazine article Melissa discusses her journey, emphasising the rewarding aspect of helping others. She also touches on our industry's positive impacts including the meaningful differences we can make in people's lives.

We’ve just wrapped up our 3rd Annual Wealthpoint Pathways Conference, held in Tauranga.

We opened with our Member Business briefing hosted by Simon Manning, Wealthpoint CEO, and Nigel Rukuwai, Wealthpoint Chairman who provided an update on Wealthpoint and reflected on what has been a very strong year for the cooperative and its members. Alongside this, we ran our new advisers programme as well as a programme specially developed for member business support staff. These are designed to help grow the relationship between these groups, key suppliers, and Wealthpoint staff.

Our first guest speaker, Harold Hilman, inspired the room with topics on leadership, management, and the importance of building strong teams to grow successful businesses. This was followed by Gold Sponsor sessions from Vero, Asteron Life, Fidelity Life, Nikko AM, and Partners Life.

On Wednesday, we were hosted by our MC Pip Loader, who helped entertain us with her high energy as we prepared for another full day. We had the privilege of hearing our guest speakers Ashley Fell, Abbas Nazari, and Justine Troy who shared their experiences with us in a very thought-provoking manner.

After an afternoon of workshop sessions, we had the pleasure of spending the evening at the stunning Eagle Ridge Estate, set high in the Tauranga countryside with spectacular views across the region. This was the setting for our Chairman’s and New Adviser functions followed by the Gala Dinner and Annual Member Awards… more on this and our winners soon.

We wrapped up our conference on Thursday with a truly moving (and entertaining) presentation by David Downs. David spoke of his personal journey through a successful battle with cancer. His talk was one of the many highlights of what has been a fantastic conference.
