As Money Month wraps up, we're thrilled to announce our Inspiring Teacher competition winner - Leanne from Waimea College! 🎉

Leanne was nominated by her colleague Naomi, who shared:

"Leanne is passionate about making sure students understand the impact of compounding interest on borrowing and saving, creating a range of opportunities to explore outcomes using a range of scenarios, calculators and gamification with Banqer. She lets the students experiment and learn from their own choices in Banqer, creating engaging and fun learning opportunities for students of all abilities and prior learning."

That's exactly the kind of real-world, financial education we love to see in action. Congratulations, Leanne! Enjoy your Weekend Wellness Escape to the Sherwood in Queenstown.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a teacher this Money Month. We were overwhelmed by the response, and it's a reminder of just how many educators are going above and beyond for their students every day.

Thank you also to Partners Life our Support Partner for the Personal Risk Insurance expansion, for teaming up with us to make this incredible prize possible.

For Caren Leyland, the key to financial education is helping students see how it applies to the real world.

In this reel, the Sacred Heart College, Auckland teacher shares how Banqer High is helping students explore real-world financial concepts, including personal risk insurance. Caren also reflects on a decision she made at 18, and how a later experience changed the way she thinks about the importance of understanding insurance before you need it. 💭

🎓 We're proud to support Banqer High by helping young Kiwi learn about managing risk through the Banqer High Personal Risk Insurance Expansion.

Before they ever need real insurance, students at Sacred Heart College in Auckland are already learning how it works.

Through the Banqer High Personal Risk Insurance module, they learn about the real risks to their health and their income, weigh up the different ways to manage that risk, and then get to take out a fictitious medical or income protection policy of their own. Real financial decisions, without the real-world consequences if things don't go to plan.

This Money Month, we've teamed up with Partners Life, our Support Partner for the Personal Risk Insurance expansion within Banqer High, helping give the next generation the financial education they need, before they need it.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to build financial confidence and capability. 💡

For Caren Leyland, Commerce Head of Department at Sacred Heart College, that mission is personal. She was 18 when she took out health insurance without really understanding why it mattered. Now she wants her own students to understand that reasoning long before they're the ones making the call, not just what health insurance is, but why you'd take it out, and what it means for your finances if things go wrong.

That's exactly what the Banqer High Personal Risk Insurance module is designed to build.
