Market ups and downs can feel unsettling, but they’re a normal part of investing.

Your KiwiSaver is designed for the long term - often decades.

History shows markets recover over time, and short-term volatility doesn’t change long-term goals. Before making changes to your fund, take a moment, get advice, and think about your long-term plan.

Stay focused on the future.

Just under 400 members of the financial services sector gathered in Auckland this morning for Outlook 2026: Global Currents to Local Impact.

Prime Minister Rt. Hon Christopher Luxon shared perspectives on the global operating environment - highlighting the increasing importance of economic resilience, international competitiveness, and strong public–private collaboration. He noted the critical role the financial services sector plays in enabling investment, boosting productivity, and supporting long‑term prosperity.

Professor Robert Patman provided geopolitical context, emphasising how global uncertainty and shifting alliances are reshaping New Zealand’s strategic landscape. David Farrar of Curia Research explored emerging public sentiment trends from overseas and in New Zealand, offering valuable insights into changing expectations across households and businesses.

Speakers joined a panel with Cath Robertson‑Hodder of KPMG and Aimie Hines from the FSC, who reflected on sector opportunities during a Q&A with attendees.

A big thank you to our exclusive event partner, Chapman Tripp, for their support.

“We are calling for a full review of KiwiSaver to ensure policy settings go to the heart of its core purpose to prepare Kiwis for a dignified retirement. That will mean setting a long-term strategic policy direction for KiwiSaver.”

With the announcement of the New Zealand National Party's KiwiSaver rental bond policy this week, our CEO Richard Klipin spoke to Stuff and National Business Review about the long-term effects of this proposed move.

The New Zealand National Party KiwiSaver Rental Bond policy announced yesterday should be of great concern to all Kiwis, however, it is a great way to start a wider conversation on longer term KiwiSaver policy settings, says our CEO Richard Klipin.

The FSC says the National Party’s KiwiSaver Rental Bond policy should be of great concern to all Kiwis, however, it is a great way to start a wider conversation on longer term KiwiSaver policy settings.
