CoreLogic NZ's May Housing Chart Pack revealed insights into property purchases by different buyer types.

In April, the share of Movers increased to 27% from 26% in Q1 2024.
First-home buyers remain a strong presence in the market, holding a 25% share of purchases. They are benefiting from lower house prices compared to the peak, facing less competition from other buyer groups, and receiving support such as KiwiSaver and access to low-deposit home loans.

RBNZ increases the OCR by 0.25%, marking the 12th straight rate hike!
The rise in OCR is expected to push variable mortgage interest rates further into the 8% range, while one-year and two-year fixed rates could move slightly higher (currently in the mid 6% to early 7% range).
