Here's what that actually means, city by city. 🏙️

Nationally, servicing a new mortgage now eats 40 cents of household incomes (down from 54 cents).

But some cities ask for way less. Some ask for double.

If your KiwiSaver has taken a hit just to get through the month, you're not the only one.

More Kiwis withdrew KiwiSaver for financial hardship than to buy their first home.

According to IRD data:
📌 5,130 people withdrew for financial hardship, up from 4,080 in June 2025.
📌 4,370 withdrew for a first-home deposit, up from 3,620 in June 2025.

Easy to file this under ‘cost of living is tough’ and scroll on.
