Finance Minister Nicola Willis delivered Budget 2026 on 28 May, and the message was clear. Discipline, responsibility, and a focus on the long game.
The Government books are now forecast to return to surplus in 2028-29, a year earlier than previously expected. The Budget includes $5.8 billion in new health operating funding, $1.773 billion to extend the Waikato Expressway, and a $1.1 billion uplift for Corrections, Police and Justice.
For everyday Kiwis, the big question is what this means at ground level. Wages, jobs, borrowing costs, and the cost of living are all part of that conversation.
We'd love to know what you think. Does this Budget deliver for you and your family?
