The good news is that many motor policies treat glass differently from other claims. What that looks like depends on your policy wording:

▪️ Some policies apply a nil excess to glass and windscreens only
▪️ Others extend it to sunroofs, headlights and taillights

It’s worth knowing which one you have before a chip turns into a crack.

Your excess is the amount you put towards a claim before your insurer pays the rest. Claim $3,000 with a $500 excess and the insurer pays $2,500.

Two things worth knowing:
• A higher excess usually means a lower premium, and the other way round
• Different excesses can apply to different types of claim on the same policy

The right excess is one you could comfortably pay tomorrow. Not sure what yours is?
