independent micro finance "D/(Gha)"
category Bank under the provision
s of the
Banks and Financial Institution Act 2063. SAHAYATRA is attempting to fill the gaps
in areas where other financial institutions
either do not exist or where coverage is
minimal. Operational Areas
SAHAYATRA implements micro finance
program as per the directives and guidelines
of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Its Head Office
is located in Ward no. 5, Chitlang VDC of
Makwanpur district. During the first five years
of its operation, Sahayatra will cover the
following districts Rasuwa, Kathmandu,
Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Makwanpur,
Rukum, Rolpa, Dang, Jumla, Mugu, Humla,
Dolakha, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga. In
the subsequent years it will continue to
expand its operational coverage prioritizing
areas where such services are not available. Vision

contribute to poverty alleviation. The Objectives
SAHAYATRA is committed to enhance access to micro finance to members of previously
excluded/deprived communities and women in particular. The specific objectives are to:
• Promote skills and knowledge enhancement activities aimed at developing
entrepreneurship;
• Expand the outreach of micro finance services to disadvantaged/vulnerable
communities and migrant workers.
• Create a couducive environment to prosperity of deprived communities;
• Promote programs to generate self-employment opportunities in local areas.
• Develop partnerships for credit plus activities and graduate micro levels to meso levels
in entrepreneurship development.
• Demonstrate that women entrepreneures hold potentials to change the national
economy.
