Dr. Sunil Chitrakar, Chairperson of the Fair Trade Group Nepal, participated today in a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal to discuss promoting Nepali exports through economic diplomacy.

On the occasion of World Fair Trade Day 2026, Fair Trade Group Nepal, jointly with the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), successfully organized an Interaction Programme on the theme “Building Resilience beyond LDC Graduation” on 17 May 2026 at the FHAN Meeting Hall, Kathmandu.
The programme focused on creating awareness about the ePing platform and understanding non-tariff barriers to support exporters in monitoring international trade requirements and strengthening regulatory compliance. The event also provided an open forum for exporters to discuss current banking procedure challenges and explore practical solutions through collective dialogue.
The interaction concluded with valuable insights and recommendations from sector experts, highlighting possible pathways for strengthening Nepal’s trade resilience and supporting sustainable growth beyond LDC graduation.

Mr. Sunil Chitrakar, PhD, Chairperson, FTG Nepal, participated in a discussion program organized by FEEN to gather suggestions for the formulation of the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 budget. The discussion centered on export promotion, business challenges, and other relevant issues to be considered for inclusion in the budget.

FTG Nepal has begun identifying farmer groups and clusters in Barekot (Jajarkot) and Aathbiskot (West Rukum), in collaboration with WHH, RRN, and MIC Nepal under the SUSTAIN project initiative.
Through focused efforts on business planning, access to finance, and the establishment of a business incubation center, we aim to support local enterprises and strengthen sustainable livelihoods.
Together, we move closer to enhancing food security, nutrition, and promoting Fair Trade practices across communities.

Fair Trade Group Nepal, along with partners from the Western Cluster (Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces), took part in the “Pause and Reflect Session” organized by WHH in Surkhet on 29–30 March 2026.
The session was a good opportunity to look back at our work, share what we are learning, and hear from partners working in different contexts.
We appreciate WHH for bringing everyone together for this reflective space.

Fair Trade Group Nepal successfully participated in a 1.5-day MEAL and FCRM training held on 20–21 March 2026 in Khalanga, Jajarkot, facilitated by WHH under the SUSTAIN Project.

The training brought together participants from MIC Nepal, RRN, and Fair Trade Group Nepal, providing a valuable platform to strengthen knowledge, exchange experiences, and enhance collaborative learning on monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and feedback mechanisms.

Fair Trade Group Nepal , in collaboration with Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) and MIC Nepal, successfully organized the inception meeting and officially launched the SUSTAIN Project at Aathbiskot Municipality, Rukum (West), on 17 March, 2026.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the project’s objectives, implementation process, target wards, and the important role of local government and stakeholders in ensuring effective coordination and impact. We sincerely thank Aathbiskot Municipality for its support and permission to implement the project, and all participants and partners for making the orientation meeting productive and meaningful.

A three-day field visit was conducted from 16-18 February 2026 in Barekot Rural Municipality (Jajarkot) and Aathbiskot Municipality (Rukum West) under the SUSTAIN Project, supported by BMZ and Welthungerhilfe. The visit aimed to engage with local government officials, farmers, and community members to assess the potential for agriculture, enterprise development, and cooperative strengthening in preparation for full-scale implementation at the local level.
