We’re hiring! Norwegian Hull Club is looking for a Senior Payroll & Accounting Specialist to take ownership of payroll end-to-end - and help keep the important link between payroll and accounting running smoothly.

If you’re the type of person people trust to get the details right (and handle sensitive information with care), we’d love to hear from you!

You’ll be based at our head office in Bergen and report to the Head of Finance & Accounting. Day to day, you’ll work closely with HR, Finance and colleagues across the business.

Among the responsibilities you'll have are managing payroll across the full employee journey (onboarding to offboarding), maintaining payroll systems, and making sure data stays clean and consistent across payroll, expenses and accounting. You’ll also stay on top of tax/regulatory updates, plus take care of statutory reporting and year-end processes - to name just a few!

Ready for an unforgettable voyage into the real-world drama that unfolds when things go wrong at sea?

On April 23, from 1600-1800, Norwegian Hull Club invites everyone who is curious about the sea and its stories to what promises to be a fascinating evening at Statsraaden Bar & Reception in Bergen during One Ocean Week.

Norwegian Hull Club’s Åge Solberg, in conversation with Aleksander Valestrand, will reveal the stories behind some of the most dramatic maritime moments of our time - from Titanic and Scandinavian Star, to Helge Ingstad, piracy off Somalia, the invasion of Ukraine, and the rapidly shifting reality in the Strait of Hormuz.

What happens when a ship burns, has too few lifeboats and life jackets, runs aground or is stopped by war? Why can a lack of insurance bring all world trade to a standstill? Accidents, fires, groundings and war zones – when everything goes wrong at sea, our screens are filled with dramatic images. But what happens behind these scenes? Who takes responsibility when ships cannot sail on? And why, in the blink of an eye, could “no one will insure this” stop all world trade?

At the same time, we will look ahead: what new scenarios and challenges await? And what could these mean for safety and risk?

Spaces for the event - which will be held in Norwegian - are highly limited, so you should arrive early to avoid disappointment!

Alongside our belief in the power of sharing – especially when it comes to knowledge – is our commitment to long-term relationships and the fostering of new ones. The opportunity to combine all these qualities at our latest Athens seminar, held last week, was one that team-members of Norwegian Hull Club grabbed enthusiastically.

The event, which was held at the city’s Marriot, was very well attended by many of The Club’s valued clients, brokers and network of surveyors in Greece. With a number of presentations under the banner ‘Reflections and Insights into an Ever-Changing World’, attendees were provided not only with an update on the latest developments and status at Norwegian Hull Club - including its crew health cover subsidiary Marine Benefits - but also the marine, energy and renewables outlook until the end of next year.

With a round-up of potential impacts and exposures, including examples of incidents from high-risk areas stemming from the latest geo-political circumstances – together with concerns from an insurance perspective and claims trends – a number of attendees took the opportunity to raise further points and ask questions of The Club’s team.

After the event, we were happy to be joined by our guests on the roof-top terrace for some refreshments and engaging conversations lasting well into the evening.
