Equity and pip curve over the year. The results represent 180 trades that met our rules, the strategy still needs some optimising.

When doing that, the number of trades will fall to approximately 120 trades. This policy will result in less drawdowns and higher profits.

Every investing/trading related website states: "The past performance does not guarantee future results." But it does guarantee something.

When a strategy is profitable over a longer period of time, there is a high probability that it will stay a profitable strategy in the future. We do have to mention that drawdowns can occur, whatever strategy you follow.

To evaluate a winning strategy, it is important to perform back- and forward testing. By doing this, you will verify the strategy is working and will gain confidence so you can start trading the strategy you developed.

So what can we expect from backtesting a strategy?
1. A losing strategy or 2. A winning strategy.

Both good things to know when you start trading or investing, because you will never use a losing strategy and will use a winning one right?

Following the rules stated above, we developed this new strategy (see photo's) by collecting data over a period of twelve months, on which we have executed a backtest.

Having done that, we are not there yet. After having all the data in excel and optimized the strategy, we will 'paper trade' or using virtual money to test it in real life.

But for that, it is too early to tell you how that works. Follow us and we keep you updated about our new strategy!
