Our partner Over Easy Solar has published a world-first: an EPD for its xM-3 that covers both the PV panels and the mounting structure! As far as they’ve been able to establish, it’s the first for a flat-roof solar product to do so.

The EPD reports 51.5 kg CO₂e/m² for A1-A3 (materials and manufacturing). It’s declared per m² of installed system rather than per kWp, which makes it easier to use early in a project. It is independently verified and published by EPD-Global.

Combined with our green roofs, it gives you one roof for energy, biodiversity and water retention.

Nieuw Bergen in Eindhoven, naar ontwerp van , is genomineerd voor de Architectenweb Award Woongebouw van het Jaar! 🏆

Wij leverden de matten voor het 3.200 m2 hellende groendak, die met zorg zijn aangelegd door Gebr. Van Kessel. Met het groene dak draagt het gebouw extra bij aan de biodiversiteit in de wijk.

De winnaar wordt op woensdagavond 4 november 2026 bekendgemaakt tijdens de uitreiking van de Architectenweb Awards 2026. Wij houden de duimen voor MVRDV!

Grijs, steen en beton. Zo zien veel bedrijventerreinen er nog uit.

Maar het kan ook anders. Groene daken en gevels zorgen voor waterberging, verkoeling en een werkomgeving waar je graag komt. En de ruimte is er al: boven je hoofd en langs de muur.

À partir du 1er juillet 2027, les nouvelles constructions et les rénovations importantes en France devront consacrer au moins 50 % de leur toiture aux énergies renouvelables, à la végétalisation ou à une solution équivalente.

Pour de nombreux projets, la question n’est donc plus de choisir entre toiture végétalisée ou panneaux photovoltaïques, mais de les combiner. Une toiture végétalisée Sedum, une toiture solaire végétalisée et une toiture végétalisée bleue et verte sont toutes des options, et toutes sont déjà réalisées en France.

Les projets lancés aujourd’hui devront déjà tenir compte de ces nouvelles obligations.

From 1 July 2027, new buildings and major renovations in France must dedicate at least 50% of their roof to renewable energy, greening, or an equivalent solution.

For many projects the question is no longer a green roof or solar panels, but how to combine them. A Sedum roof, a solargreen roof and a blue-green roof are all options, and all are already being built in France.

Projects starting today will already have to take this into account.

The A.Vogel Nederland visitor centre is still a ‘green beauty’. The 340 m² pitched green roof makes the building blend perfectly into the landscape, as it was always meant to be.

A roof that is built to last! The water-retaining fleece, anti-shear supports, a specially developed roof garden substrate and pre-grown sedum mats keep the roof stable and functional on slopes of up to 45 degrees.

Roofs like this also contribute greatly to biodiversity, water buffering and the cooling of the building, and give visitors an extra green welcome.
