Pakistan and China are paying attention to what's happening in Africa, and there's a good reason for it.

This week in Addis Ababa, we've had some interesting conversations about where business is heading. Pakistan is looking to strengthen its commercial connections across Africa, while China continues to explore opportunities for industrial expansion and manufacturing.

Ethiopia is becoming part of these conversations, and there's plenty to discuss. From local production to international trade, the interest is there. The bigger question is how these plans will actually move forward.

That's what we're working on at Epic Edges Capital. Connecting businesses and investors is one part of it. Getting the investment structure right, understanding the local market, and making sure the projects are commercially viable takes considerably more work.

It's been a productive week in Addis Ababa. I'm particularly interested to see which of these opportunities will move into actual projects.

The UK government is reportedly considering lowering the starting threshold for its planned High Value Council Tax Surcharge from £2 million to £1.5 million.

Under the existing plan, the surcharge is due to begin in England in April 2028, with annual charges ranging from £2,500 to £7,500 depending on property value.

Lowering the threshold remains under discussion and could bring significantly more properties within the scope of the tax.

No change to the £2 million threshold has been formally announced.
