The International Institute of Micro Credit Administration commenced operations in Nigeria on the 16th Day of August, 2007 in line with the resolution of the Governing Council/Advisory Board (GCAB) conference held in Reggio Emilia, Italy on the 4th Day of July, 2007, to organize a body to be recognized by municipal and international law to regulate standards of knowledge in the micro finance profe
ssionals in globally with headquarters in Nigeria, West Africa. International Institute of Micro Credit Administration IIMCA was eventually accorded legal status in Nigeria as an International Company Ltd by Guarantee with Reg. No. 910951 under the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria; and one of the specific articles is the regulation of standards of certified members for micro credit administration on a Membership/Research Fellowship and associate-ship template. The engagement plan is to forge partnership and alliances globally to obtain a worldwide recognizable Charter in line with the proposed ‘The International Standard for Microcredit and Cooperative Administrators’’ ‘ISMCA’, in collaboration with various stakeholders. The International Institute of Micro Credit Administration (IIMCA) as a MSME Finance Research Centre seeking to create a World Alliance for Poverty Reduction 2025 (WAPR 2025), has conceived the certification programmes to meet the demand of various Microfinance/credit and MSME Fund administration policies. These courses seek to create the needed interface between the existing traditional MSME Finance professionals and emerging world views and systems in line with globally acceptable best practices; thereby creating the foundation for the emergence of minimum standard of knowledge. This basically will highlight the need for all stakeholders in the economy to understand the role of micro-credit & MSME Fund interventions in the rapid economic development of the country. It will also create the opportunity to forge the platform for the promoters of the International Institute for Micro Credit Administration to leap frog the efforts to bring about a set of professional service providers through the micro-credit administration professional certification window.
