OSHIA Distributes Medical Equipment To Government Hospitals

As part of the measures to ensure that Health Care Providers deliver quality health services in the state, the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA), on Wednesday, distributed medical machines and other important equipment to government health care providers.

Speaking at the event which was held at the OHIS Secretariat, Abeere, the OSHIA, Executive Secretary, Dr Razaq Akindele, noted that the distribution of the equipment is aimed at assisting government hospitals in providing the best service to the Agency’s enrollees.

Akindele said: “We shall be presenting all these materials to various government hospitals to assist you in your operations in giving the best to our enrollees and all patients that comes to the hospital and I promise that very soon we’ll be extending the same gesture to our private sectors”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Health, Barr. Jola Akintola, in his good will message, urged all benefiting hospitals to judiciously utilize the equipment in providing excellent service delivery.

According to him, “It is important to also note that the distribution of these quality improvement materials signifies our unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare excellence, as these materials have been meticulously curated to equip our healthcare providers with the tools and resources necessary to deliver high-quality care to every enrollee/ patient they serve.

“These qualities are the foundation upon which we build a healthier and more resilient society.

“Consequent upon the foregoing, therefore, we encourage all benefiting facilities to reciprocate this kind gesture of the agency by ensuring that these materials translate into qualitative service delivery to residents of the state.”

Speaking, the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke reiterated the commitment of his administration to quality health care delivery in the state.

Adeleke who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye, also restated his commitment in supporting the Agency and the health sector at large, adding that his administration will continue prioritizing provision of adequate health care to the public.

He expressed his readiness to develop the state and make it better than he met it, assured that his administration would develop all the health care centres in the state with a view to ensuring healthy living.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has inaugurated the Governing Board of Osun State Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA). The inauguration was held at the Exco Lounge of Governor’s office on Tuesday in Abeere.

The Governor who was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi congratulated the board and advised them to deliver on their work dutifully.

Prince Adewusi urged members of the Board to see their appointments as a call to service, stating that the government expect more achievements from the agency.

In his remark, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Rasaq Akindele stated that the purpose of the Board was to make the work of the Agency more effective and deliver on its mandate.

Akindele also listed some of the achievements the Osun Health Insurance Scheme has recorded in the last few months, stating that the constitution of the Board is expected to bring more.

He also implored politicians and well meaning individuals to register people from their constituents in order to have more people in the scheme.

The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board, Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji appreciated the Governor for the trust repose on them and promised to deliver optimally.

Some of the other board members include: Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji, Chairman; Dr Akeem Bello, representative, Office of the head of service; Dr Najeem Akintola, state hospital management board; Dr Abayomi Oni, Mrs Yetunde Esan, Min of Home Affairs; Alhaji Tajudeen Adelabu, Organized labour, comrade Christopher Arapasopo; Office of the state coordinator of National Health Insurance Agency; Mr Oyawoye, Health providers Dr Ebenezer Adepoju, Civil society group, Mr Stephen.

The Executive Secretary is expected to serve as the Secretary to the Board.

Osun Health Insurance Agency Suspends Alaafia Oluwa Hospital and Maternity, Osogbo.
......places immediate payment of 500,000 Naira fine levy.

The Osun State Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) has placed an indefinite suspension and withdrawal of accreditation of one of its healthcare providers facility, Alaafia Oluwa Hospital and Maternity, Osogbo.

This suspension becomes necessary as a result of the facility’s continuous contravention of the stipulated laws and operational guidelines of Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS)

Among these infractions is the fraudulent claims and several attempts to defraud the scheme contrary to (Para 6.11 sub 3); refusal to treat enrollees despite receiving monthly panel list along with payment of enrollees capitation for the same month contrary to (Para 6.11 sub 4); incessant failure and deliberate neglect to follow laid down procedures of the scheme contrary to (Para 6.11 sub 5) all of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme operational guidelines.

Other infractions include continuous verbal threats and use of derogatory words on staff of the Agency; inciting enrollees against the Agency as well as inciting other accredited healthcare providers against the Agency by continuously posting false allegations against the Agency on the Agency healthcare provider’s WhatsApp platform.

In lieu of the above, Alaafia Oluwa Hospital and Maternity, Osogbo has been suspended with an order to pay the sum of five hundred thousand naira only ( #500,000:00). This suspension is indefinite and commenced immediately.

As a result of the above, all enrollees who are registered and are meant to receive treatment at the facility should proceed to the nearest OHIS accredited facility with their OHIS card.

Additionally, all OHIS accredited facilities are hereby directed to treat these individuals and write the agency for their claim as “out of station” claim.

The agency is committed to delivering quality healthcare service for all enrollees and will therefore continue to ensure all accredited healthcare facilities abide by the operational guidelines of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme.
