Eid el-fitr: Read Hon. Emmanuel Ogbe Omebije's Message to Kogites.
Fellow Kogites,
Its is with heartfelt joy that I felicitate with you all, particularly the Muslim faithful, on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-fitr.
Despite the many challenges that defined the Ramadan fast, this lofty milestone yet again reveals the undented Kogi Spirit of perseverance, strength, love and unity that binds us as products of the Confluence.
Indeed, our fervent and sincere prayers, which cut across religion, political and ethnic divides, has energised me to dream of a better Kogi where everybody and everything works; leveraging the abundance of wealth laying moribund owing to the reckless negligence of those chosen to chart the the leadership course of this blessed State.
Howbeit, on the joyous occasion of this year’s Eid-el-fitr celebration, I appeal to all Kogites to rise against the odds, keep our prejudices aside and strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity to keep our loving State together.
As we celebrate, I sincerely wish to affirm my believe that our State can make rapid progress on all fronts if we re-enact the exemplary virtues, typified by Prophet Muhammed through his sacrifice, patience, steadfastness, generosity and obedience to Allah's command and constituted authority.
By extension, as the State tilts its lenses to the forthcoming gubernatorial polls scheduled for November, we must make haste to shun the vices of hate speech and thuggery and commit ourselves more to the sustenance of democracy and political stability which are essential prerequisites for the advancement of good governance, inclusive economic growth and rapid development.
Observably, there is no other time than this to roll-up our sleeves and bend down to work-the-talk so that Kogi State can occupy its rightful place in the comity of states.
Above all, it is my earnest prayer that we strive to imbibe the lessons of the Ramadan Season as we pray that almighty Allah meets us at our various points of needs during and after this auspicious celebration.
Please, permit me to say: Barka da Sallah!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long live Kogi State.
Rt. Hon. (Surv) Emmanuel Ogbe Omebije.
