Netflix is using generative AI to help subscribers decide what to watch on its platform, as the streaming company looks to ease the frustration of navigating an ever-growing content library.

Elizabeth Stone, the company’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, made the disclosure at the Bloomberg Tech conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, saying the volume of content available on the platform has become a genuine source of frustration for subscribers, and that AI is now Netflix’s primary tool for solving it.

Netflix is currently testing a voice user interface that would allow subscribers to describe what they feel like watching, with the system combining personal viewing history, preferences, and real-time trends to serve a tailored recommendation.

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed reports claiming that abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State have been released by their captors, describing the information as false and misleading.

The Oyo State Police Command, in a statement on Thursday, said no such release has taken place, stressing that rescue operations for the victims are still ongoing.

The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026, when armed men attacked three schools in Ahoro-Esiele/Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area near Ogbomoso and abducted pupils and teachers.

Africans with at least $50 million in investable assets are increasingly allocating capital to real estate as a strategy for wealth preservation, portfolio diversification, and long-term income generation, a new wealth report has stated.

The report released by Africa’s largest lender by assets, Standard Bank- shows that ultra-high-net-worth individuals across the continent are ramping up investments in residential, commercial, and industrial properties despite persistent economic and geopolitical uncertainties.

According to Chris Browne, Head of Wealth and Investment at Standard Bank, the number of residential and commercial properties purchased by the bank’s ultra-rich clients in South Africa more than doubled in the 12 months ending September 2025 compared with the previous year.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has increased the maximum tuition fee remittance for Nigerian students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies abroad to $25,000 per semester, up from the previous $15,000.

The revision is contained in the CBN Foreign Exchange (FX) Manual, 4th Edition, released on Wednesday.

The update forms part of ongoing reforms by the CBN aimed at improving transparency, liquidity, and confidence in the Nigerian foreign exchange market.

The new rules apply to all payments for tuition fees through Authorised Dealer Banks for eligible higher education institutions overseas.

Previously, tuition fee remittances were capped at $15,000 per semester and limited to two semesters per academic session.
