Nnamdi Kanu Questions Court's
Jurisdiction as Justice Nyako Adjourns Case indefinitely.
IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has rejected Justice Binta Nyako's authority over his trial, expressing frustration that Chief Judge John Tsoho reassigned the case to her.
Despite Kanu's objections, Justice Nyako adjourned the case indefinitely.
Kanu, who has been in detention since June 2021 on terrorism charges, had previously convinced Nyako to recuse herself in September 2024. However, the Chief Judge ruled that Kanu must formally file a motion for her removal.
At the hearing on February 10, 2025, Justice Nyako said she had not been officially excused from the case. She asked Kanu's legal team, led by Aloy Ejimakor, to submit a written request if they still wanted her to step down.
Meanwhile, the prosecution, led by Adegboyega Awomolo, stated they were ready for trial.
Annoyed Kanu insisted he did not recognize the court's authority and dismissed the proceedings as meaningless to him.
