Meet Femi Dapson Founder and Executive Producer of Nouvelle Films. The man behind the most viewed Afrobeats music video in history.
Rema’s “Calm Down.” Burna Boy’s “City Boys.” Kizz Daniel’s “Cough.” Asake’s “Wave.” Davido’s “Awuke.” If you have watched Afrobeats go global in the last four years, you have watched Femi Dapson’s work.
He grew up in Agege. Cleaned toilets. Worked in a factory for ₦500 a day. In 2017, filmed himself at work and declared with what he called “crazy faith” that he was destined for greatness. That video later went viral as proof.
In 2020 he founded Nouvelle Films. By 2023, he had won the Headies Award for Best Music Video. Today his production budgets exceed ₦50 million per project and he has professionalised an entire role in the Nigerian creative economy.
