Do you know that Ikorodu is now a result of careless pronunciation of “Okorodu” over the years?

The name "Ikorodu" was derived from the two words OKO-ODU Meaning the farm (OKO) of (ODU) a kind of plant. The word ODU means something that blackens, because vegetation of the area was predominantly ODU plant, hence they referred to the area as the farm of ODU. OKO-ODU was by Remo accent called OKORODU. By long careless usage, it is now called IKORODU.

The current population of Ikorodu in 2019 is 887,000, a 5.85% increase from 2018.Ikorodu has been home to a large percentage of people working at Lagos Island.
