The state government is working to make Kano a better place and to make your land right more secure.
The Kano state bureau for land management under office of the executive governor of Kano state is providing a project of systematic land title registration (SLTR) for kano state.
What is SLTR?
1. SLTR refers to a project of large-scale land registration; it quickly registers as many properties as possible in a specific area.
2. SLTR is a fast and efficient method for having the government formally recognize an owner's rights to the land they are occupying. At the conclusion of the project participating landowners' land will be registered with the state and they will have the opportunity to purchase a Certificate of Occupancy(C of O) for their land.
3. When their parcels are registered, Landowners' rights are more certain. Their rights are even more secure when they hold a state - issued C of O, which can also be used as collateral to obtained financing capital.
4. It's not just the landowners who benefited from the SLTR project. The information gathered for the SLTR project is used to make a complete property map for the state. Having a modern, complete property map improves the local economy because investors are more confident to come to kano and start businesses. The information from the property map is also used by various government ministries to improve the services they offer. Everyone benefit!
5. SLTR involves a team of technicians visiting every property in an area, going door to door and talking to the owners of each parcel of land and their neighbors to verify the boundaries of property, gathering the property owner's name and the size and shape of each land parcel.
6. All participating landowner's will have their property registered with the state and also have the opportunity to purchase their C of O.
7. Register your land- protect your right.
