A simple system for prioritizing your life and work so you stay focused, disciplined and productive.
I learned something powerful after reading the book āEat That Frogā by Brian Tracy.
It's called the ABCDE Method ā a simple system for prioritizing your life and work so you stay focused, disciplined and productive.
Hereās what each letter means:
A ā Absolutely Important
These are the frogs of your life šø
Tasks that have serious consequences if you donāt do them and huge rewards if you complete them.
If you have many of them, rank them: A1, A2, A3ā¦
Your A1 is the most important task of the day.
The rule?
Donāt start with tadpoles. Start with the biggest, ugliest frog first.
Example:
Finishing a critical report for your boss or meeting an important client.
B ā Should Do
These tasks have mild consequences if ignored.
Someone might be inconvenienced, but your life wonāt collapse.
Example:
Replying emails or returning non-urgent calls.
C ā Nice To Do
These tasks have no real consequences whether you do them or not.
Example:
Chatting with a colleague or calling a friend.
D ā Delegate
Anything someone else can do, delegate it.
Your time should be protected for A-level tasks that only you can do.
E ā Eliminate
Some tasks should simply disappear from your list.
They may have been important before, but now they add zero value.
The real power of this system is simple because all you have to do is tart immediately with your A1 task and stay on it until it is finished.
No distractions or procrastination, Just you eating the frog.
When you build the habit of focusing on your most important task first, youāll start accomplishing more than most people around you.
Your biggest task becomes the launchpad for confidence, discipline, and real progress.
