πŸ“šπŸ”₯ TRADER TALK WITH EMMY β€” DAY 4
πŸ“± UNDERSTANDING MT5 (MetaTrader 5)

3️⃣ NAVIGATOR 🧭

The Navigator section helps you access different parts of your trading account.

You may find things like:

βœ… Your trading account
βœ… Indicators
βœ… Expert Advisors (EAs)
βœ… Scripts

For now, don't worry too much about Expert Advisors or Scripts. We'll focus on the things you need as a beginner.

---

4️⃣ TOOLBOX / TERMINAL πŸ’Ό

This is one of the most important sections of MT5.

The Toolbox allows you to monitor things such as:

πŸ’° Balance
πŸ“Š Equity
πŸ“ˆ Open positions
πŸ“‹ Trade history
πŸ’΅ Profit or loss

Let's understand the difference:

Balance = Your account balance after closed trades.

Equity = Your balance plus or minus the profit/loss of your currently open trades.

For example:

If your balance is $100 and your open trade is currently making +$10:

πŸ‘‰ Equity = $110

If the open trade is currently at -$10:

πŸ‘‰ Equity = $90

This is why your equity can change while your balance remains the same.

---

5️⃣ BUY AND SELL BUTTONS πŸŸ’πŸ”΄

When you're ready to enter a trade, you'll generally choose between:

🟒 BUY
πŸ”΄ SELL

BUY means you expect the price to go up.

Example:

You buy EURUSD because you believe EURUSD will rise.

If the price rises as expected, the trade can move into profit.

SELL means you expect the price to go down.

Example:

You sell EURUSD because you believe EURUSD will fall.

If the price falls as expected, the trade can move into profit.

⚠️ Important:

A Buy or Sell decision should not be based simply on guessing whether price will go up or down. Later in this course, we'll learn how traders analyze the market before entering.

---

6️⃣ HOW TO OPEN A TRADE πŸ“²

Before opening a trade, you need to select the instrument you want to trade.

For example:

EURUSD

Then you'll choose the appropriate order type and enter your trade details.

Depending on your broker and account, you may need to specify:

πŸ“Œ Volume/Lot size
πŸ“Œ Stop Loss
πŸ“Œ Take Profit
πŸ“Œ Order type

Then u can place a trade

7️⃣ STOP LOSS πŸ›‘

Stop Loss (SL) is a tool used to automatically close your trade when the market reaches a specific price against your position.

Example:

You buy EURUSD at 1.1000.

You decide that you don't want to risk more than a certain amount.

You could place your Stop Loss below your entry, for example at 1.0950.

If price reaches that level, the position can be closed automatically.

πŸ‘‰ Stop Loss helps you control risk.

But remember:

Stop Loss does NOT guarantee that your loss will always be exactly the amount you planned, because market conditions such as slippage can affect the actual ex*****on price.

---

8️⃣ TAKE PROFIT 🎯

Take Profit (TP) works in the opposite direction.

It allows you to specify a price where your trade should automatically close when it reaches your desired profit target.

Example:

You buy EURUSD at 1.1000.

You set Take Profit at 1.1100.

If price reaches that level, the trade can close automatically.

So:

πŸ›‘ Stop Loss = helps limit potential loss

🎯 Take Profit = helps lock in a target profit

---

9️⃣ OPEN TRADE VS CLOSED TRADE πŸ”„

This is very important.

An open trade is a position that is currently active.

Its profit or loss can still change as the market moves.

A closed trade is a position that has already been exited.

Once a trade is closed, its final profit or loss is recorded in your account history.

Think of it like this:

Open trade:
"I'm still in the market."

Closed trade:
"I'm out of the market."

---

πŸ”Ÿ MARKET ORDER VS PENDING ORDER πŸ“Œ

There are different ways to enter the market.

Market Order

This means you want to enter the trade at the current available market price.

For example:

EURUSD is currently trading around 1.1000.

You decide to Buy now.

That's a market order.

Pending Order

This means you want MT5 to enter the trade only when price reaches a specific level or meets the order's conditions.

Examples include:

πŸ“ Buy Limit
πŸ“ Sell Limit
πŸ“ Buy Stop
πŸ“ Sell Stop

We'll go deeper into these order types in a later class.

---

🧠 DAY 4 KEY LESSON

Today, you learned that MT5 is your trading workspace.

You should now understand:

βœ… What MT5 means
βœ… What Market Watch is
βœ… What a chart is
βœ… What timeframes mean
βœ… What Buy and Sell mean
βœ… What Balance and Equity mean
βœ… What an open trade is
βœ… What a closed trade is
βœ… What Stop Loss is
βœ… What Take Profit is
βœ… The difference between market and pending orders

πŸ“ DAY 4 HOMEWORK

Before moving to Day 5, answer these questions:

1. What does MT5 stand for?

2. What is the purpose of Market Watch?

3. What does a bullish candle generally represent?

4. What does a bearish candle generally represent?

5. What is the difference between Balance and Equity?

6. What is Stop Loss used for?

7. What is Take Profit used for?

8. What is the difference between an open trade and a closed trade?

9. If you expect EURUSD to rise, would you generally look to Buy or Sell?

10. What is the difference between a market

πŸ“šπŸ”₯ TRADER TALK WITH EMMY β€” DAY 4
πŸ“± UNDERSTANDING MT5 (MetaTrader 5)

Welcome to Day 4 of our Forex Education Series! πŸš€

So far, we've learned the foundation of Forex, currency pairs, pips, points, and lot sizes.
Today, we're moving from theory to the trading platform itself.

🎯 TODAY'S GOAL
By the end of today's class, you should understand how to navigate MT5, read the basic interface, and know how a trade is opened and managed.

πŸ“± WHAT IS MT5?
MT5 means MetaTrader 5.
It is a trading platform that allows traders to:
βœ… Analyze the market
βœ… View price charts
βœ… Open Buy and Sell positions
βœ… Set Stop Loss and Take Profit
βœ… Monitor active trades
βœ… Close trades
βœ… Study market movements

Think of MT5 as your trading workspace.
Your broker provides the trading account, while MT5 is one of the platforms you can use to interact with that account.

🧭 LET'S UNDERSTAND THE MT5 INTERFACE
When you open MT5, you'll come across different sections.

1️⃣ MARKET WATCH πŸ‘€
This is where you see the instruments available for trading.
For example:
EURUSD
GBPUSD
USDJPY
XAUUSD (Gold)
You can select an instrument and open its chart.

2️⃣ THE CHART πŸ“Š
The chart shows how the price of an instrument has moved over time.
You'll see candlesticks representing price movement.
Remember:

🟒 Bullish candle β†’ price moved upward
πŸ”΄ Bearish candle β†’ price moved downward
You can also change the timeframe.
For example:
M1 = 1 minute
M5 = 5 minutes
M15 = 15 minutes
H1 = 1 hour
H4 = 4 hours
D1 = 1 day

A candle on the H1 timeframe represents one hour of price movement.

please asked your questions on the comments section

12/08/2026

πŸ›‘οΈ 5. LOT SIZE AND RISK MANAGEMENT

This is why lot size should be connected to your risk management.

You should first ask:

"How much am I willing to lose if this trade fails?"

Then determine the appropriate lot size based on:

Your account balance

Your risk percentage

Your stop-loss distance

The currency pair you're trading

For example, if your account is $100, risking 5% means you're willing to risk $5 on that trade.

You don't simply choose 1.00 lot because you want a bigger profit.

Your risk should determine your position sizeβ€”not greed.

---

🧠 6. A VERY IMPORTANT LESSON

Two traders can have the same strategy, same entry and same stop-loss, but completely different results simply because they used different lot sizes.

That's why understanding lot size is not optional.

You can have a good strategy and still lose your account if your lot size is too large.

---

🎯 TODAY'S KEY TAKEAWAYS

Before you leave today's class, remember these five things:

1️⃣ Lot size determines the size of your position.

2️⃣ Bigger lot = bigger potential profit AND bigger potential loss.

3️⃣ Smaller lot = smaller potential profit AND smaller potential loss.

4️⃣ Your lot size should be based on your risk management.

5️⃣ Never increase your lot size simply because you want to make money faster.

πŸ“ CLASS EXERCISE

Let's see if everyone understands.

Question 1:
Which is larger?

A. 0.01 lot
B. 0.10 lot
C. 1.00 lot

Question 2:
If two traders enter the same trade but Trader A uses 0.01 lot and Trader B uses 1.00 lot, who will generally experience the larger profit or loss for the same pip movement?
Question 3:
Why is using a very large lot size dangerous for a beginner?

Drop your answers in the comments. πŸ‘‡πŸ”₯

Tomorrow: DAY 4 β€” UNDERSTANDING MT5

12/08/2026

πŸ“š TRADER TALK WITH EMMY β€” DAY 3

πŸ“Š UNDERSTANDING LOT SIZES

Before you place any trade in Forex, there is something very important you must understand:

LOT SIZE.

Lot size determines how much currency you are buying or selling in a trade, and it has a direct impact on how much you can gain or lose.

πŸ”Ή 1. WHAT IS LOT SIZE?

In simple terms:

Lot size is the amount of currency you are trading.

Think of it like buying goods in different quantities.

For example, if you buy 1 bag of rice, your cost and potential profit will be different from buying 10 bags.

It's similar in Forex.

The larger your lot size, the larger the potential profit or loss per pip.

---

πŸ”Ή 2. TYPES OF LOT SIZES

There are four common lot sizes beginners should know:

Lot Type Lot Size

🟒 Standard Lot 1.00
πŸ”΅ Mini Lot 0.10
🟑 Micro Lot 0.01
🟠 Nano Lot 0.001

The most important ones for beginners are 0.01, 0.10 and 1.00.

Example:

If you trade EUR/USD:

0.01 lot β†’ Micro lot

0.10 lot β†’ Mini lot

1.00 lot β†’ Standard lot

---

πŸ”₯ 3. WHY DOES LOT SIZE MATTER?

This is where many beginners make mistakes.

Imagine two traders take the same trade.

Trader A enters with 0.01 lot.

Trader B enters with 1.00 lot.

Even if both trades move the same number of pips, Trader B's profit or loss will be much larger.

So remember:

> Lot size controls the amount of risk you're taking per pip.

That's why you should never choose your lot size simply because you want to make more money.

---

πŸ“ˆ 4. SIMPLE EXAMPLE

Let's say you enter a trade and the market moves 50 pips in your favor.

If your position is small, your profit will be relatively small.

If your position is much larger, the profit can be much larger.

But here's the dangerous part:

The same thing happens when the market moves against you.

A bigger lot doesn't only increase your potential profit.

It also increases your potential loss. ⚠️
