“When I made my first big pay check from music, I was so happy that I shared the news with my girlfriend. I gave her full details of how much I made and the next day, I gave her 2 million naira as a gift. To my surprise, she turned it down saying 2 Million was too small compared to how much I had made. I was abit worried coz this girl is from a humble background and I never imagined her to be like that. I explained the situation to Olamide and he advised me to leave the girl, he also instructed me to send the 2 Million Naira to my mom.

I’m glad I did coz my mom was able to make good use of the money and open a big provision store. My mom doesn’t call me for financial issues anymore coz she’s doing just fine...”

In 2023, I was honored to receive a commission to create a monumental sculpture for a public park in Oyo State, Nigeria. This ambitious project, completed over 11 months, stands as the most challenging endeavor of my career and proudly holds the distinction of being one of the tallest public sculptures made from scrap metal in Nigeria and by extension, West Africa.

The resulting 60-foot-tall monument features three towering 25-foot sculptures standing on a 35-foot concrete base, with the centerpiece dedicated to Basorun Ogunmola, a fearless leader and warlord in Ibadan- Nigeria. Built primarily from scrap metal, the sculpture portrays him in a commanding and confrontational battle pose, wielding a dane gun in his left hand and ‘afose’ (a potent Yoruba charm symbolizing the power of words to manifest reality) in his right.

His accoutrements (bàńté, fila-ode, apo-ogun) are adorned with intricately detailed charms and amulets, each representing a unique role and capturing the deep connection between Yoruba spirituality and material culture.
