How do you know if you’re actually building a business—or you’re just keeping yourself busy?
You can work 12 hours a day and still not move your business forward.
Because entrepreneurship isn’t measured by how exhausted you are at the end of the day.
It’s measured by what your activity is producing.
You posted content.
Did it attract potential customers?
You attended meetings.
Did they create opportunities?
You answered messages all day.
Did they move prospects closer to buying?
You went for inspections.
Did they move a transaction forward?
This is something I’m learning to pay more attention to in my own entrepreneur/CEO journey.
Especially in real estate.
Real estate can keep you VERY busy.
Listings.
Inspections.
Calls.
Negotiations.
Agents.
Clients.
Adverts.
Follow-ups.
But activity without direction can create the illusion of progress.
So here’s my simple CEO test:
Ask yourself:
1. What did I do this week that can make money?
2. What did I do that can bring customers?
3. What did I do that builds the business beyond today’s task?
4. What did I do that only I, as the CEO, can do?
Then audit your last 7 days.
Put every activity into:
🟢 MAKE MONEY
🟡 BUILD THE BUSINESS
🔴 JUST KEEPING ME BUSY
The result might humble you. 😂
But that’s the point.
We’re not trying to become busier entrepreneurs.
We’re trying to become better builders.
Save this and do the audit tonight.
Then tell me:
Which category took most of your time?
