Ogun State Marks Golden Jubilee as ACOMORAN Chairman Hails Legacy, Leadership, and Future
Abeokuta, Ogun State — As Ogun State celebrates its Golden Jubilee, Comrade Kayode Amos Sowunmi, JP, Chairman of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun State Chapter, has congratulated the government and people of the state on 50 years of purposeful existence, resilience, and steady development.
In a statement released to commemorate the anniversary, Comrade Sowunmi described Ogun State as a land of visionaries, industry, and excellence, noting that its journey since creation in 1976 reflects deliberate leadership and the collective sacrifices of its people. He paid glowing tribute to the founding ideals that have guided the state through successive administrations, applauding both past and present governors for their varied contributions to infrastructure, education, industrial growth, and social development.
The ACOMORAN chairman also celebrated Ogun State’s rich human capital, acknowledging iconic sons and daughters whose legacies continue to shape Nigeria and the world. He referenced foremost nationalists and intellectuals such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, former Head of the Interim National Government Chief Ernest Shonekan, and former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, among many others, describing them as enduring symbols of the “Gateway State’s” leadership pedigree.
Comrade Sowunmi commended the current administration for sustaining the development trajectory and urged continued unity, inclusive governance, and people-focused policies. He reaffirmed ACOMORAN’s commitment to peace, orderliness, and partnership with the government to advance economic opportunities for members and contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress. He concluded by wishing Ogun State greater prosperity in the years ahead, calling the Golden Jubilee “a celebration of legacy, leadership and limitless possibilities.”
