Today, at Menara MyIPO, MIDF had the privilege of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), represented by Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO and witnessed by various regional WIPO representatives:

Representing MIDF were YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, Chairman of MIDF, accompanied by Datuk Azrulnizam Abdul Aziz, MIDF Board Member, and Mr. Azizi Hj. Mustafa, Chief Executive Officer of MIDF.

This MoU affirms our collective commitment to recognise intellectual property as a real, bankable business asset.

With intangible investments projected to reach nearly USD 8 trillion globally by 2024, it is crucial that Malaysia positions itself at the forefront of this transformation.

Through WIPO’s ASEAN IP Finance Pilot Project, MIDF is pioneering IP-backed lending in Malaysia. This provides SMEs and innovative, asset-light companies with an alternative pathway to financing – a solution that many have long sought but found difficult to access through traditional means.
