I believe everyone has seen this post in Facebook just a while ago. Even though this case happens in Singapore, in Malaysia all insurance companies have the SAME rule where the critical illness plan will only pay out when BOTH the kidneys have lost its function and require kidney dialysis or kidney transplant. Therefore, if you have bought any plan with your agent, these are the few things that you should ask:

1) Do I have critical illness coverage?
2) Based on the case in the news, do I still get any payout from my critical illness plan since I have been hospitalized for 21 days and undergone surgery ?
3) Does my medical card plan covers kidney dialysis?
