Malaysian banks’ net interest margin (NIM) declined last year, dragging down the profits of listed banking groups. However, there are signs that NIM will improve by 2025.
What is striking is that AmBank's NIM was lower than that of its Singaporean peers for the first time last year. In other words, AmBank's profit margins were inferior to those of Singaporean banks.
