Japan’s rising-rate cycle could still have more to give MUFG. 🇯🇵📈

MUFG delivered record 1QFY2026 net profit of JPY809.4 billion, up 48% YoY, supported by double-digit growth across net interest income, fee income and trading income. Further BOJ rate hikes could continue supporting margin expansion as lending rates reprice faster than deposit costs.

With resilient asset quality and potential support from share buybacks and continued dividend growth, iFAST Research expects MUFG’s NYSE-listed ADR to reach USD28.00 by FY2028, implying 23.1% upside, alongside a 2.1% dividend yield.

MUFG is emerging as one of the clearest beneficiaries of Japan?s ongoing monetary policy normalisation. Its record 1QFY2026 earnings were supported by broad-based growth, while further BOJ rate hikes could extend the NIM expansion cycle.
