AEON Credit has mobilized a total of 740 volunteers for its Nationwide Coastal Clean Up campaign (held in-conjunction with World Ocean Day 2022) which commenced concurrently at Pantai Morib (Selangor), Pantai Batu Layar (Johor) and Pantai Kampung Buntal (Sarawak) on Saturday, 16 July 2022. This cleanup activity is initiated in line with the Company’s strategy in driving its ESG initiatives to preserve the environment.
The cleanup activity which was conducted with the support from Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa and local town councils accumulated a total of 2,257.9 kg of debris, out of which, 1,806.3 kg were recyclable waste consisting of plastics, polystrene and other recyclable items.
Phase 2 of this coastal cleanup event will be held on 23 July 2022 at Pantai Sepat (Pahang), Pantai Bersih (Pulau Pinang) and Pantai ODEC UMS (Sabah).
AEON Credit Service Malaysia has been actively conducting coastal cleanup activities and to date, have collected a total of 20 tonnes of waste materials in 15 beaches nationwide, meeting the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals No. 13 Climate Action and No.14 Life Below Water. This year, the Company aims to clear an additional 6.5 tonnes of wastes along the said coastlines.
