Is Medical Card really Useful?

Sharing my friend story here. incident happened last year. Her seven month old baby always fall in sick and cries frequently. Upon diagnosed, she was informed that her baby is born a ventricular septal defect which there is a hole in the wall of the heart. The cost of the surgery was RM58,000. She and her husband are both working as Executive in a well established company. Their savings was dried up due having their marriage and bought a new house in the previous year.
As this is unexpected, they was having trouble to look for RM58,000 immediately and they did not prepare any insurance for their child. Luckily their parents and parent in law able to give some money around RM30,000 and the rest was borrowed from their friends. This process took a while and they daughter condition was worsening. They able to prepare the money just in time and their daughter is perfectly alright after the surgery.

What if the money was not prepared right on time? What if they do not have very close family and friends? What if they did took insurance for their child?

After this incident, they realized the importance of Insurance and have took a medical card for their upcoming baby.
