*Local Bourse Recap: Tightening Lockdown on High-Standing Infections*

The KLCI Index has hit to the lowest level YTD, after the Covid19 infections climbed to close 7k daily cases and implementation of EMCO in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The government has unveiled another stimulus aid package totalling RM150 billions, trying to lessen the economic loss from the lockdown, however, failed to excite the market. We think that the implementation of EMCO will have further negative impact to the economy, and the economy may not reopen anytime soon, given the current virus spread. Nevertheless, it’s not all about bad news, as 5 states will enter into phase 2 of National Recovery Plan (NRP). We expect the weak market sentiment will continue to persist, which may provide opportunity to *buy on dip, to position on economy recovery later*.

The *technology* sector was the only sector which saw strong buying interest and registered positive return last week, on the back of strong NASDAQ performance, and investors rotated into small and mid tech names, such as *GENETEC, JHM, KOBAY*, etc. Meanwhile, *healthcare* stocks are among the biggest losers as the market continued to sell down glove counters due to declining ASP and ESG issue (forced labour). We think the market will continue to focus sectors which can continue to operate under FMCO despite running at lower capacity, i.e. technology, O&G, selected manufacturers, and banks, given that there is no clear indicator that the movement restrictions will loosen in near term.
