HELAH-HELAH USED CAR KETIKA MENJUAL KERETA (ENGLISH VERSION AT THE BOTTOM!)
Best kan pergi shopping kereta dekat used car? Kereta pun rupa cantik je memanjang. Nak test drive pun tak boleh, lepas dah confirm & taruk deposit baru dia bagi bawak. Tapi di sebalik keindahan membeli kereta di used car, admin perhati terdapat beberapa helah am yang digunakan SEGELINTIR PENJUAL KENDERAAN TERPAKAI.
1) Menurunkan mileage asal kenderaan – Mileage rendah semacam? Itu trick biasa! Melainkan terdapat service history yang LENGKAP.
2) PROCESSING FEE – Rata-rata pasti yang perasan, harga diiklankan jauh berbeza berbanding harga on the road. Harga on the road ni termasuk sesuatu PROCESSING FEE yang mampu mencecah setinggi RM3000. Meh admin nak cerita.
Kos tukar nama JPJ – RM100
Kos Puspakom – RM35
Mana pergi baki RM3000 nya?
4) IKLAN BERBUNGA – Description dekat iklan balik-balik sama saja. 1 LADY OWNER, FREE ACCIDENT.
5) CAT BERKUALITI RENDAH – Cat baru?
JIKA ANDA TERASA, MUNGKIN ANDA SEKALI TURUT MELAKUKAN HELAH SAMA!
------------------------------------------------------
Buying a used car brings about significant savings when comparing to a new one. Window shopping at a dealer seems like the perfect experience! Endless cars to choose from, with the sales assistants ready to address all of your concerns.
For as long as the industry has been around, it has been an OPEN SECRET that CERTAIN resellers may use certain tricks in order for the car that is being sold to seem better than what it actually is.
We list down the possible common tricks here!
1) REDUCED MILEAGE – Altering the mileage of a car is the easiest trick in the book! The only way one can verify that the mileage is somewhat genuine? A COMPLETE service record where the mileage from which the last service was made does not run far off from its current mileage. How far is too far? A difference of more than 10,000KM is definitely a red flag!
2) PROCESSING FEE. Most of the time, the prices that are advertised and the final price that one pays differs. This happens when costs such as insurance, roadtax is included In which is completely understandable. A certain PROCESSING FEE always pops up. Sellers might claim that this is the fee to cover for costs such as PUSPAKOM or JPJ.
Costs for those are relatively low
Puspakom – RM35
JPJ Name change – RM100
So where does the balance of the money go. To their own pockets of course! PROCESSING FEE can be seen as a dealer’s fixed commission, regardless of price that the car is sold. Arguments can go back and forth regarding what else the money is used for (Runner Fees, Bank Processing) and yet these charges should never tantamount to such numbers
3) SHORT CUT REPAIRS – certain repairs can be done so that the car seems to function fine while the car is being viewed or driven
Problematic gearbox – A certain additive can be added to make sure the gearbox functions well for a very short period of time.
Problematic engine – Heard of a check engine light? It lights up when there is an issue with your engine that needs to be sorted out. A clear code fault can be done where the car TEMPORARILY forgets that there is a problem. The problem doesn’t go away, its just that hasn’t been recognized again yet!
4) FANTASY LAND DESCRIPTION – One Lady owner, accident free, like new. These are some of the common lines used by car sellers. Make sure to inspect all of the body panels for colour differences / improper fittings / any signs of damages.
5) LOW QUALITY PAINT – For cost saving purposes, paint shops associated with certain used car dealers use may use low quality materials. The after effect of these work can only be seen much later on, by when its too late to complain!
What can we conclude? Inspect a vehicle thoroughly, and bring someone else who might know a thing or two about cars as well. It doesn’t hurt to have two pairs of eyes looking at the same thing. Always be ready to walk away if you feel like a better deal can be done.
